- Skills-based hiringEn General Discussion·October 7, 2023I'm thinking that as skills-based hiring replaces degree-based hiring, certificate programs and online training (much of which is affordable) become much more appealing. Skills-Based Hiring Is on the Rise (h(https://hbr.org/2022/02/skills-based-hiring-is-on-the-rise)br.org)(http://hbr.org)(https://hbr.org/2022/02/skills-based-hiring-is-on-the-rise) I started off with this course on Coursera. Within two weeks, I was able to pass the first certificate course in the 6-segment Project Management Series, entitled Foundations of Project Management. Other affordable courses at a glance include Mathematics for Understanding Machine Learning - a course for beginners! It has been a game-changer for me to realize that continuing education doesn't have to mean leaving the workforce to get a second degree. And if I had been unemployed, adding one of these certificates to my resume and highlighting it in my interviews could have been a game-changer. - E-sports is the new gaming boom?En Sports·October 28, 2023Last month, my son came up to me and asked if he could use my a credit card to register for a Fortnite tournament it was only $50, and he played that game quite well. I loved gaming when I was his age as well, so I was supportive of it. A week goes back, and he paid my back and said I won the tournament and to my surprise when he told me his winning prize it was a PS5 with a cash prize of $7,000. Like what! This was amazing, like a kid from anywhere can compete in a tournament and win prizes from the comfort of their home. I guess this is a booming age for the E-sports industry in my opinion.049
