- How to write the technical stuff?En Technical Writing ·October 11, 2023I used to do these assignments for my engineering friends in university they were Arab and did't know much about writing and honestly loved it. It was really easy. You need to know the specs for a product and describe what it is, what parts it has and how all those parts come into play and how the product functions also sometimes had to write about how to opporate the product as well. To learn how to do technical writing i woudl recommend looking up technical discriptions on different industry leading products on amazon or like the product manuals you might have at home. Sometimes you need to know legal terms as well but mostly the legal team of a company can help out in that fine text.014

- Can you write code, as a person who never had much prior interest in computer science or aptitude for it?En General Discussion·September 23, 2023What I learned building my first website | Knight Lab (n(https://knightlab.northwestern.edu/2015/05/26/what-i-learned-building-my-first-website/)orthwestern.edu)(http://northwestern.edu)(https://knightlab.northwestern.edu/2015/05/26/what-i-learned-building-my-first-website/) There's a bit of a language gap when it comes to "how-to" instructions for writing code. But technically, technical writing can make things learnable for anyone. Are there instructions online that make writing code as simple as operating a toaster? - More information on the Portland, OR storm and emergency kitsEn The Weather Stop·January 14, 2024Nearly 100,000 people left without power in Portland metro area during wind storm | KATU(https://katu.com/news/local/nearly-20000-people-left-without-power-in-the-portland-metro-area-during-wind-storm#) The article in the link contains a list of emergency supplies that everyone should have on hand in the event of a winter power outage. I would suggest keeping an emergency kit like this in the trunk of your car if you're a driver, also. Even a light coating of snow/ice on a roadway can cause a car to slide off, and being stranded in freezing temperatures is risky, even in the modern age where cell phones make it easier to call for help. Road conditions can get worse in the time it takes emergency services to respond, so a kit could at the very least help you be more safe and comfortable while you wait for help.014

- It's been a while since I visited the National Gallery of ArtEn General Discussion·September 23, 2023The 50 best free museums in Washington DC (w(https://wanderlog.com/list/geoCategory/132413/best-free-museums-in-washington-dc)anderlog.com)(http://wanderlog.com)(https://wanderlog.com/list/geoCategory/132413/best-free-museums-in-washington-dc) The last time I was at the National Gallery of Art was about six years ago. I saw a bunch of Madonna-and-Child artwork, and I was thrilled the first time I saw a fly painted onto a Cardinal's robe, because I thought of it as free speech - the freedom to say something less than reverent about a figure with a religous office. This was from a 1516 painting by Italian artist Sebastiano del Piombo. Cardinal Bandinello Sauli, His Secretary, and Two Geographers (n(https://www.nga.gov/collection/art-object-page.46136.html)ga.gov)(http://nga.gov)(https://www.nga.gov/collection/art-object-page.46136.html) Then, last night, I learned that there's a National Gallery, not in the US but in the UK, which features a fly on a woman's headress - the artist is unknown, but it's dated a bit earlier, 1470. It's identified as "Swabian," which refers to an ethno-linguistic group in Germany. Swabian | Portrait of a Woman of the Hofer Family | NG722 | National Gallery, London(https://www.nationalgallery.org.uk/paintings/swabian-portrait-of-a-woman-of-the-hofer-family) Finally, after some research, I realized that flies in paintings were common in the 15th and 16th centuries - there even is a specialized Latin term referring to paintings with flies in them: Musca depicta: Musca depicta - Wikipedia(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musca_depicta) Apparently, the way English majors argue over literature, Fine Arts majors argue over art, with various theories of why the flies exist. The consensus seems to be that they exist in different paintings for different reasons, ranging from characterizing lust or decay, to just being a joke, to emphasizing particular skill on the part of the painter. But as an appreciator of art, not an artist myself, all I can do is acknowledge that I was genuinely thrilled to discover the fly on the Cardinal's robe here in the Washington D.C. National Gallery of Art. It was one of the highlights of my visit to the gallery, which is free. I didn't have to travel very far to see the geology exhibits in the National Museum of Natural History, (https://naturalhistory.si.edu/)where you can touch a piece of Mars, learn about earthquakes, view a meteorite that crashed through the cieling of a doctor's office in 2011, and much more. Narrated Virtual Tour: Hall of Geology, Gems, and Minerals – Moon, Meteorites, and Solar System - YouTube(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_Brhejw0zw) I don't remember everything I see when I visit places like this, but some of what I see changes how I see the world. I didn't know, prior to visiting the National Gallery, that artists painting 500 years ago had enough freedom of expression to paint flies on important artworks - my history classes taught me about things like the Salem witch trials, the persecution of the French Huegonots,(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Bartholomew%27s_Day_massacre) and pograms against(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pogrom) Jewish people.017
- What's better a Masters Degree or CoursesEn Continuing Education·October 11, 2023It depends on where you are or work. In the states it's getting more and more common that people are upskilling by doing courses and bootcamps to get promotions and better job offers. That's mainly because they value good character and skills over degrees these days. Majorly for tech. For fields like Medicine and Law and engineering it's good to get a Masters degree. But for tech people are less and less spending on Masters and prefer Courses on Coursera and Bootcamps to upskill. What do you think about this shift in Education?015
